For the first seventeen years of its life, Porsche built just one road car, and that was the 356. You could choose different body styles, colors and a few engines, but the 356 was it. By the early 1960s, the car was becoming rather antiquated and the pushrod four was at the end of its development life. The complicated blind alley that was the 356 Carrera 2 four-cam two liter four cylinder was no answer for mass-production.
Under the internal type number 901, Porsche developed a completely new GT car that was evolutionary of the 356 but with better visibility, more shoulder room and an overhead cam 2.0 liter flat six-cylinder motor with about 40 more horsepower than a 356 Super. Early 911s had much of the vintage charm of a 356, including chrome trim inside and out. They also rusted with the same alacrity as the 356 and were more tail-happy because of the increased power and skinny 165-15 tires.
Any Porsche 911 and especially an early production example is expensive to restore. It’s best to consider sound, complete cars only.

This 911 was built in the last production year of a short wheelbase (SWB). It is an example with a desirable 5-speed manual transmission, confirmed by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, which is included also in the sale.
It was sold new into the Netherlands, the previous owner owned the car since 1972 and completely renovated in Great Britain by a brand specialist into a condition of a new car (32 kilometres after renovation) in 2019, when it was imported to Czech Republic and it comes with a US title.

Hello Ray, thank you for question and interest for the car. I have sent more pictures with numbers, confirming at least the gearbox, they will be added to the gallery. I gave Auctomobile the information about matching numbers because I got this information from the previous seller who had also asked at Porsche for the Certificate. I can not explain, why there is this one misinterpretation between the 901/14 in the Certificate and 901/16 in the picture. The only thing in my mind explaining this is that it really was one of the last SWB built and they used already the stamp 901/16 for this car instead of the 901/14 that is on the production certificate. But I have no other information about this than what I got from the previous seller and from the Certificate. I will try to check it, but as the auction is ending today, this is the only information I have and can give you right now.

in the description its described as matching number car, the certificate shows 901/14, the pictures shows 901/16 engine, can you explain ? There are no other pictures which shows a match between Porsches Certificate and the cars gear box installed, do you have pictures?

Hello Nielsen, I have sent the pictures of the underbody and they will be added to the gallery. No problems at all, the car was fully renovated and has driven only 32 kilometres from the renovation. It is currently unregistred, it comes with a US title and all import duties to EU are already paid.

Do you have photos from underneath the car and from suspension. Any know problems with the car? Where is the car currently registered? Has full EU VAT been paid on the car?
